 INFO NOTE ON AURANGABAD

Aurangabad is located in the state of Maharashtra in the western region of India. Situated on the banks of the Kham River, Aurangabad is the largest city in the Northern Maharashtra region extending over an area of 158.9-sq-kms. The city, also known as Tourist District of India, has always been a prominent region on the Deccan plateau and has a long artistic and cultural history to which several dynasties have made major contributions over the years.

Barring the world heritage monuments of Ajanta, Ellora, Daulatabad and Bibi-Ka-Maqbara, the district is rich in monuments, historical and religious, of National importance. Aurangabad was earlier known as 'Khirki', due to its strategic position that provided a window view of the Deccan plateau. Though the city looks like a calm and serene city, it has some of the best colleges and universities in the state and is one of the fastest growing industrial towns in India.

The industrial revolution came in Aurangabad in early 1980's with Bajaj Auto starting its plant at Waluj MIDC. The area gained the monument of industrialization becoming fastest growing industrial estate in Asia. The Shendra MIDC is a five star industrial estate having ample water supply and electricity.

Reach Aurangabad
By Air :
Aurangabad airport is situated 10 km east of the city. Both Indian Airlines and Jet Airways have a daily flight to Mumbai (Bombay). The Indian Airlines has an evening flight to Delhi via Udaipur and Jaipur………………
By Rail :
Aurangabad can be easily approached by rail from Hyderabad, Secunderabad, Mumbai and New Delhi. There are regular trains available on South Central Railway to reach Aurangabad. Aurangabad is a section on the Manmad - Kachiguda line on SCR. Passengers from Bombay and Delhi change at Manmad railway Junction, 114km. away from Aurangabad.
By Road :
Aurangabad is well connected with major cities of the state by a good network of roadways. The distances for some of the major cities from Aurangabad are Pune (214 km), Nasik (218 km), Indore (402 km) and Mumbai (403 km). Delhi-Aurangabad is 1323km. (via Mathura, Agra, Gwalior, Shivpuri, Indore, Dhule, Jalgaon, Ajanta). MTDC operates daily bus services and conducted tours from Bombay to Aurangabad by luxury coach.
