Mr. R.N. Bagla was the Founder of the Bagla Group, currently, one of the leading Auto Components manufacturing Companies in India. Since its inception in 1986, the Bagla Group, under the tutelage of Mr. Bagla, grew to over 1800 employees and 5 locations nationwide.

Born on 15th February, 1926 in Calcutta, Mr. Bagla completed his education in Agra University in 1942. Always an idealist, he took an active role in the independence movement & worked closely with revolutionary visionaries like Sarvashri Rafi Ahmed Kidwai, Sampurnandji Kamlapathi Tripathi and others. After dutifully serving the nation, he turned his attention to his true calling - business. He joined his family business in 1946 as a member of the Calcutta Stock Exchange. Thereafter he switched over to Jute trading. An eager learner, he quickly grew from an apprentice to a skilful practitioner of the business arts. His thorough knowledge about commodities and markets as well as trading and banking led to him being appointed as a Banking Consultant by the American Express Bank and the chairman of Local Advisory Committee of Indian Bank.

During this period, he took keen interest in the prevailing labour union problem in West Bengal and served on the boards of various committees appointed by both the Congress and the Left Front Governments in West Bengal.

Spinning off from the world of stocks & banking, R. N. Bagla’s involvement in the manufacturing business began in 1986, when he founded Aurangabad Electricals, a magneto manufacturing unit with a humble capital of 15 lacs, 23 workers and staff. His keen business acumen, visionary leadership & entrepreneurial spirit led to the growth of the now, 500 crore, Bagla group, which today oversees a global portfolio and has technical collaborations with leading foreign companies.

"Babuji" as Mr. R. N. Bagla was fondly known, was widely recognized for his leadership, creativity and entrepreneurial contributions to the business community, as well as being known for his active involvement in numerous charities.

R.N.Bagla was the Founder Trustee of Marathwada Medical Research Institute (Kamalnayan Bajaj Hospital). He was actively involved in starting Nath Valley School and his son, Rishi Kumar Bagla is one of the Trustees of this school. Mr. Bagla was also the founder President of Waluj Industries Association. He successfully organized many tripartite discussions between the financial institutions and entrepreneurs.

He received several commendations for his work. In 2006, he received the Lifetime Contribution award from ALUCAST in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the die-casting industry.

He passed away in January 2009, handing over the mantle to his son Mr. Rishi Bagla who is fully involved in the management of the business.
